Just a couple days ago, Playground Games and Turn 10 Studios announced the critically acclaimed open-world racing game Forza Horizon 5 would make the jump to PS5 on April 25. Rather than excitement, its release date reveal was met with sighs as concerns over its pricing and early access preorder perk were heard around the world wide web. It seems those sighs were for naught, as it is currently topping the PlayStation Store’s preorder charts around the world.
Despite pricing concerns, Forza Horizon 5 tops PS Store preorder charts
As spotted by a ResetEra user, people seem very enthusiastic for Forza Horizon 5’s arrival on PS5. In the U.S., the lauded racing game is currently sitting at 3rd, 4th, and 12th for the best-selling preorders on the PS Store. What makes this pretty hilarious is the edition with five days early access, which was criticized by players, is the best seller among the three different versions.
In other regions, it is currently holding the number one spot in Canada, Germany, France, Italy, Spain, Portugal, Mexico, and Brazil. In the U.K., the Premium Edition is currently ranked 2nd just below the Bloodline Edition of WWE 2K25.
A similar scenario occurred when Days Gone Remastered was revealed during last month’s PlayStation State of Play. It is pretty silly for Sony to remaster a game that launched just six years ago, which the platform’s audience seemed to echo those sentiments. However, days after its reveal, it was also in the top 10 best-selling preorders on the PS Store.
Forza Horizon 5 is just one of many games that Microsoft has brought over from its catalog of Xbox games. However, unlike Sea of Thieves, Pentiment, or Hi-Fi Rush, the Forza franchise is considered one of the platforms tentpole franchises. Other big entries series like Halo and Gears of War have been rumored to come to Sony’s console platform for a while now, but have yet to be revealed.
